This year’s flu activity has been rampant across the country and it’s important to take preventative measures to keep yourself as healthy as possible to “beat the bugs”.
Did you know that while we commonly use the phrase “I’ve got a bit of a bug” to refer to being sick, the flu and common cold are actually viral infections. Viral infections are not the same as bacterial infections, which makes antibiotics ineffective against viruses. Viral infections in your body occur similarly to how your computer gets a virus. Simply put, a virus is a little piece of “code” that gets into our bodies and then copies itself.
Viral infections, especially those like the “common cold” often just have torun their course. Which makes your best defense against a virus is a healthy and robust immune system.
